ALOHA FOR THE LAST TIME

For some of the students who weren’t afraid to miss some sleep, the day started at 6am with a hike to a mountain to watch the beautiful sunrise. After the amazing sun coming out of the Pacific waters, we came back to the hotel to have breakfast with the students that did not go.

Shortly after, we were ready for “Hanauma Bay” at the west side of the island, where we went snorkeling. We have the chance to discover the gorgeous coral reefs and the beautiful diversity of colorful fish, relax on the beach and enjoy the hot sun. We spent just enough time there, and we came back to the hotel and got dressed up very Hawaiian to go to a Lua’u.

For us, the Lua’u was our chance to come together as a group to celebrate the fantastic week full of fun, excitement, happiness, learning, growing and Aloha-spirit. We were dancing, singing and laughing. Everyone was excited but also a bit sad because we were aware of our departure tomorrow. At the Luau we were able to see a lot of different shows. Next to the fire dance from the islands f Samoa, the Hakka from New Zealand and of course some different kinds of Hula from our favorite island of flower bracelets, the Hawaiian way of bowling and hula dancing classes on the stage.

It was a wonderful evening. After luau, we got back in the bus and went back to the hotel to start saying our goodbyes…

We close this chapter now and we want to thank your for following our blog. We loved to share our experiences with you and hope that you liked the pictures as well as the texts.

Aloha from the YFU Hawaii Expedition 2010!

Today is the 5th day in Oahu, Hawaii. We were sleepy this morning, but we all ate a great breakfast in the restaurant of our hotel!

Today we had one group going hiking Diamond Head that used to be a volcano. Another group went on the Catamaran. There were waves really high and it was a lot of fun!

We were lucky because we had the sun shining almost all the time, but unfortunately we did not see whales and dolphins.

After lunch, we went to the beach to play volleyball and football. Some students went surfing and swimming.

Later on, we went to the biggest mall in Hawaii (Ala Moana) and some bought some gifts and clothes.

We had dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp and it was amazing! All over the restaurant there were things and clothes from the movie “Forrest Gump”. We could try the famous shrimps. It was yummy! It was a great experience!

We went back to the hotel and had a meeting about the next day. Now we are ready to go to bed!
